Set a course for Kerr Lake State Recreation Area to enjoy sailing, fishing, water skiing and camping. This 50,000-acre, man-made lake is a haven for water sports enthusiasts and landlubbers alike. The lake is situated in the northeast corner of the Piedmont region and lies in both Virginia and North Carolina. The recreation area’s headquarters are located north of Henderson at Satterwhite Point. More than 800 miles of wooded shoreline provide access to a variety of fun-filled activities on the lake. Relax and enjoy water sports at any of the seven recreation areas operated by the NC Division of Parks and Recreation along this expansive reservoir.

Family Camping: Kerr Lake offers hundreds of wooded tent and trailer campsites, many of them on the water’s edge. Both electric hookup and non-electrical sites are offered. Many of the electrical sites have hookups for water directly on the site, but some require up to 100 feet of hose to reach the water hookup.

The majority of the campsites have a picnic table, fire pit/ring or grill, and tent pad. Playgrounds, public telephones, hot showers, restrooms and dump stations are nearby.

Bullocksville offers 60 tent/trailer campsites, 29 with water and electric hookups. The campground is open the week before Easter through the last weekend in September. A softball field is located nearby.

County Line offers 69 campsites, 37 with electric hookups. Sites are available for RV and tent/trailer camping. Henderson Point has 73 campsites, 44 with electric hookups. Both campgrounds are open the week before Easter through the last weekend in September.

Hibernia offers both RV and tent/trailer camping. Out of 137 campsites, 47 sites have electric hookups. The campground is open the week before Easter through the end of October. Also open during this time is Kimball Point with 75 tent/trailer campsites, 40 sites with electric hookups available to RVs.

Nutbush and Satterwhite Point have campsites that are open year round. Nutbush has 96 campsites, 59 with hookups for RVs. Satterwhite Point has 109 sites, 63 with electric hookups for RVs.

Group Camping: Hibernia, Henderson Point and Satterwhite Point have areas set aside for camping clubs and groups. Group campsites provide privacy, drinking water and restrooms. Electricty is not availalble.
