Cottonwood Campground (Theodore Roosevelt National Park)

Teddy Roseveldt NP,cottonwood camp ground
  • CER II October 2012
Honestly I had not heard of this NP,until our fall trip 2012.We were planing ahead while still in Minnesota and driving I 94 and spotted this place. The campsites at the south unit are along the Little Missouri River. The area is the northern bad lands and there are lots of animals, mainly bison that roam through the camp. The 36 mile loop gives you a look at some of the back country with trails at pull offs to walk.
Our visit was in Oct so the weather was mild,I think the summers would be hot. Most sites had some trees and the sites are spread out nicely. There is a northern unit that is more remote, next time we will try it.
