Doing last-minute packing for a camping trip is often the greatest barrier to getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Forgotten essentials can turn what would have been a great trip into an uncomfortable and disappointing experience. Camping First Aid Checklist
- Ibuprofen, Advil, Naprosyn, or some other over the counter anti-inflammatory
- Tylenol for a basic pain reliever
- Benadryl for allergies or skin reactions
- Cleansing agent: Hydrogen Peroxide, alcohol, or betadine
- Gauze of various sizes and shapes
- Medical tape
- Ace Bandage 4 – 6 inches wide
- Arm Sling (the cloth type)
- Antibiotic ointment (such as neosporin)
- Anti-itch cream
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- Magnifying glass (to see small slivers)
- Cold and Heat Pack (The shakable/breakable kind)
- Non-stick band-aids
- Wound closure strips (aka butterfly bandages)
- CPR mask (use only if you are trained in CPR)
Most good first-aid kits will have all of the above items in them. It is worth purchasing one and having it with you.
