Only 15 miles from the town of Ouray, Ridgway’s great outdoors – the “Switzerland of America” – welcomes those from near and far. The parks popular campgrounds, beautiful reservoir, picnic and playground areas, extensive trails, and diverse wildlife offer year-round activities for all types of outdoor enthusiasts. While the swim beach is now closed for swimming or wading due to very low water levels, you can still come and enjoy the beach area.
Winter in the park is beautiful…There is abundant wildlife viewing, including bald eagles, all the trails are open (we recommend warm outdoor gear), camping is available year-round with a heated flush restroom or plan a getaway in one of the heated Yurts with electricity, microwave and fridge (reservable year-round), or shop and learn at our Visitor Center with interpretive displays and bookstore.
Ridgway State Park offers year-round modern camping: During the high season (mid-May to mid-September), 258 campsites for RVs, trailers, campers and motor homes are available, as well as 25 walk-in tent sites for a more remote experience. During the rest of the year, 20 RV sites and 15 tent sites are available. Or, for something different; stay in a yurt: Our yurts are available year-round.
