New Leech Lake Campground is open year round for summer and winter ice fishing, hunting and snowmobiling and ATVing. We are located in Portage Bay at the north end of Leech Lake. We have several camping sites with or without hookups and all have plenty of room. We also have two housekeeping apartments (like cabins) above our lodge that are set up to be used alone with separate entries or used together with a dutch door that opens to allow the two apartments to become one. Leech Lake Campground is an affordable, friendly fishing camp and a great safe place for children to be outside in nature and play!
Fishing on Leech Lake is what most of our seasonal residents and many of our visiting guests come here for. Excellent fishing begins right off our docks. Leech Lake is well known among anglers for its excellent walleye, northern pike, and muskie fishing but the lake also boasts large numbers of perch, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black crappie and panfish. New Leech Lake Campground has an easy access boat launch ramp and a harbor recently updated with a floating dock system. You must bring your own boat ties and bumpers and you will be all set.
We have a beach area where the water level is very gradual and works well for little ones to play in. Bigger kids can go in from the beach and off of the docks where they will get to deeper water more quickly.
Our lodge has a pool table, restrooms, candy display, soda, pizza, ice cream and an assortment of basic groceries. We now have wireless internet access available in our lodge for our campers and a 19″ color TV. We have very nice sized bundles of firewood for sale. They are delivered to your campsite fire ring. We do not sell fishing licenses so be sre to get yours before you arrive here. We carry leeches and worms but do not have minnows on hand. If you let us know the night before you need minnows one of us will be happy to bring some back from town for you.
