About: McWilliams Campground is located 50 miles from downtown Las Vegas, and is set in a scenic Ponderosa and white pine forest. The area affords breathtaking views of the surrounding Spring Mountains. A short hiking trail connects to Dolomite Campground. Hiking and mountain biking are popular on Bristlecone Trail, which begins just up from the campground, and Sawmill Trail is a short drive below. Both trails loop together.
This campground contains several single and double-family sites with picnic tables, BBQ grills, and fire rings. Flush and vault toilets, potable water, and garbage service are provided. A campground host is on-site; firewood is available for purchase. Roads and parking spurs are paved.
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is a beautiful “island in the desert”, brimming with breathtaking scenery, desert plants, and diverse wildlife. Over 100 springs create the namesake for the mountain range. It’s the perfect place to escape the heat of the city for cool mountain air. 60+ miles of hiking and horse trails crisscross the area; two trails allow mountain biking. Rock climbing, picnicking, and scenic driving are popular activities.
