About: Hilltop Campground is just 40 miles from downtown Las Vegas, set among juniper, Mountain mahogany, and Ponderosa pines, with views of the Mojave Desert below and Spring Mountains above. The North Loop-Mt. Charleston National Recreation Trail begins only a 1/4-mile away. Robbers Roost Trailhead is nearby as well.
This campground contains single, double, and triple-family sites, all with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Shade is limited throughout the area. Some sites have short stairs from the parking spur to the site pad. Flush toilets, showers, potable water, and garbage service are provided in this recently updated campground. A camp host is located on-site; firewood is available for purchase. Roads and parking spurs are paved.
The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is a beautiful island in the desert, brimming with breathtaking scenery, desert plants, and diverse wildlife. Over 100 springs create the namesake for the mountain range. It’s the perfect place to escape the heat of the city for cool mountain air. 60+ miles of hiking and horse trails crisscross the area; two trails allow mountain biking. Rock climbing, picnicking, and scenic driving are popular activities.
