About: Austin was my hometown when I decided to start fulltime RVing in 2001. I kept the duplex that my mom and I owned in South Austin and rented my side out. Since I was supporting my travel habit at the time by taking temp legal assistant jobs in downtown offices of towns that I visited for a while, Pecan Grove became my favorite Austin RV park since it’s just a few minutes from the business district. Austin’s traffic is almost as legendary as Seattle’s now, and that proximity was most important to me.
Even though I now work from the comfort of my RV, I still prefer my home base at Pecan Grove whenever I’m in Austin. It’s definitely the best bet for exploring the music venues on 6th Street or when other special events are in town; also for exploring the state capitol, beautiful Zilker Park, and my favorite restaurant (Chuy’s) is within walking distance. The park itself really is in the midst of an old pecan tree grove – nice and shady – you couldn’t ask for a more convenient spot with an “Old Austin” feel to it.w
