The 12-mile long reservoir is situated among scenic red shale, juniper canyons, and the open prairies of southeastern Montana. The park is loved by Montana and Wyoming anglers, campers, and boaters. Water sports are popular here and the park boasts excellent fishing as four state record fish have been pulled from its waters. The recent park redesign and improvements have made the experience better for campers and safer for the fragile environment around the reservoir.
40 campsites are paved and have electrical hookups (30 and 50 amps). A small store and marina is open 6 days per week from May 22 through September 7, 2009.
