Most sites in this campground are either on the lake or no more than a couple minute walk away. There are opportunities for bird watching, bicycling, sightseeing, and canoeing. East Lake is a little shadier than the other lakes and is a perfect way to beat the heat of the summer. There nearby hikes into the lava rock and close by waterfalls. There is a boat launch area within this campground.
East Lake campground stays popular through the summer and into the fall. Be sure to arrive early as this campground tends to fill by Thursday afternoon for the weekend. East Lake is just beyond Paulina Lake in the Newberry Monument area. It is probably the more popular of the two lakes, but both are great with nearby hikes into the lava rock or to close by waterfalls available. The campsites here are heavily used during the summer and campers would be smart to find a site before Friday. East Lake Resort is just up the road, this is place where you can stock up on some last minute essentials or take a break and eat at their cafe. The water system is pressurized. The RV dump station is near the entry of Paulina Lake Campground.
