A small, get-away park, Llewellyn Johns’ ten first-come, first-served campsites offer spur-of-the-moment camping. Nearby Shadehill Recreation Area offers recreational opportunities as well as points of historical interest to keep you busy all day. Or, if you prefer peace and quiet, this is a great campground to just sit back and relax.

Camping: 10 sites (all electrical). No showers. Water.

Recreation: Camping. Picnic shelter. Petrified wood gazebo.

Many historic figures have crossed through the Shadehill/Llewellyn Johns area, including Hugh Glass and Custer’s 1874 Expedition. In 1823, Glass was attacked by a grizzly bear in this area, which is documented in the novel Lord Grizzly.
