South Campground along with Mallard Marsh Campground has a loyal following of campers who return every year. The campgrounds together are commonly referred to as the Hosmer Lake Campgrounds. Mallard is on a river bed (Mallard Marsh) that leads into Hosmer Lake and South has a popular day use area with a boat ramp on Hosmer Lake. Mallard has 15 mostly large sites and South has 23 sites that are also large and pretty much secluded from one another. The area is not that easy to find but is just south of Elk Lake.

RV Camping: Almost every site can handle the largest RV or trailer, but the RV rating is only a 3 because the road is often rutted and the sites were clearly not meant to accommodate luxury RVs.
