Corral Springs is situated in a lodgepole pine stand interspersed with small meadows. This is a rustic campground with few amenities. Highway 97 closely follows the old Klamath Trail, which was the main route used by Indians and explorers as they traveled between the Columbia River and California. The springs are near the old trail and served these early travelers. In his early explorations of the American West, Captain John C. Fremont of the Corps of Topographical Engineers followed the old Klamath Trail in December of 1843. He probably stayed overnight at Corral Springs.
