About: The Himes Peak Campground has 11 campsites. It provides direct access to Big Fish Trail #1819, and hiking in the Flat Tops Wilderness. Fishing in nearby Rainbow Lake and Big Fish Lake is good. Elk hunting can be very good in season.

Directions: The Himes Peak Campground is 46 miles east of Meeker. From Meeker, take Colorado Highway 13 east for 1 mile, then turn right (east) on Rio Blanco County Road 8 and follow this for 39 miles. Turn south on Trappers Lake Road #205, and continue 6 miles to the Himes Peak Campground. The Big Fish Trailhead is on the left as you enter the campground.
