About: Tinney Flat Campground is located in scenic Santaquin Canyon, just 9 miles from town at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Cottonwoods and a few pines provide ample shade; summer wildflowers, panoramic mountain views, and wildlife are abundant. Santaquin Creek runs alongside the site, offering rainbow trout fishing. White Pine Hollow and Calkens Hollow Trails begin in the campground.

This campground contains 3 group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people each with picnic tables, serving tables, fire rings, and BBQ grills. Single and double-family sites are available as well. Vault toilets and potable water are provided. A campground host is on-site. Roads and parking spurs within the site are paved.

The Mount Nebo Wilderness Area is brimming with beautiful mountain scenery, pristine waters, abundant wildlife, and vibrant summer wildflowers. Numerous hiking, biking, and horse trails begin a short distance from the campground. The Nebo Loop Scenic Byway is nearby, stretching 37 miles through high alpine terrain, forests, and meadows. Devil’s Kitchen Geological Area is located along the scenic loop with a 1/2 mile roundtrip trail to interesting red rock hoodoos.

Closest Town: Santaquin

Directions: From I-15; take Santaquin Exit 244; go east under freeway and turn south. Follow road into Santaquin Canyon (Forest Road 14) for 6.5 miles to the campground. The road is paved but steep and narrow.

Alternate Routes for accessing Tinney Flat: 1) Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop from the north: From Payson, take the Nebo Loop road south approximately 12-13 miles to the Santaquin Canyon turnoff. Follow the Santaquin Canyon dirt road west approx. 7 miles to Tinney Flat campground.

2) Mt. Nebo Scenic Loop from the south: From Nephi Canyon, take the Nebo Loop road north approximately 23 miles to the Santaquin Canyon turn-off. Follow the Santaquin Canyon dirt road west approx. 7 miles to Tinney Flat campground. There is one tight curve on the dirt road, just above Tinney Flat. Not recommended for trailers if you’re unfamiliar with the road.
