About: Shafer Butte is located atop the beautiful Boise Ridge Mountains near Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area at an elevation of 7,000 feet. The views here are incredible, and look upon Deer Point, Mores Mountain, and Shafer Butte summits, as well as the expansive valley below. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are plentiful, and mature pines and aspens shade the campground. Popular activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding within the Shafer Butte Trail System. Beginning in the campground is the Mores Mountain Trail, a two-mile, family-friendly interpretive nature trail. Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is close by and offers more hiking and biking trails, and two 9-hole disc golf courses that are free to the public.

This campground has seven reservable single campsites and two reservable group day-use picnic areas. All reservable sites are wheelchair accessible, as is the restroom. Vault toilets, potable water, and garbage service are provided, but there is no electricity. Parking spurs and pathways within the site are paved, and each site is a walk-to site, with a short path from the parking area. All sites have partial shade and wonderful views of the surrounding area, and some have established tent pads. Additional single day-use picnic sites and single campsites are available on a first come, first served basis.
