About: Hunter Peak Campground is locate approximately 60 miles northeast of Cody, Wyoming, on the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway. The campground sits on the banks of the Clarks Fork River and offers outstanding fishing opportunities. Each campsite has a table and fire ring. Firewood, dead and down, maybe gathered in the area. The Clarks Fork Trailhead is located across the highway and there are many opportunies for hiking on the District. The North East Gate of Yellowstone Park is approximately 24 miles Northeast of the campground via the Beartooth Scenic Byway. Gasoline, sundries, and a RV dump facility are availabe in the nearby community of Crandall.

This area is frequented by grizzly bears. All food, beverages, coolers and other attractants must be stored and unavailable. Bear boxes are located in the campground for storage. Campground hosts on site can provide more information. Garbage must be properly disposed of in dumpsters in the campground, not in campfires.

Directions: Hunter Peak Campground is located on the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway (State Hwy 296) approximately 4 miles south of the intersection with the Beartooth Scenic Highway (U.S. Hwy 212). From Cody, Wyoming travel north on State Hwy 120 to Hwy 296. The campground is approximately 60 miles from Cody, and located on the left hand side.

Traveling from the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone Park or Red Lodge Montana, take U.S. Highway 212 to the junction of State Hwy 296. Take Hwy 296 and travel approximately 5 miles to the campground, located on the right hand side of the road.
