About: Big Game Campground is located along Hwy 14-16-20 along the Shoshone River. It is about 27 miles west of Cody, Wyoming and about 25 miles east of the East Gate to Yellowstone National Park. Sitting in the cottonwood trees along the river, there is easy access to the river for bird or wildlife watching, fishing and water play. Each campsite has a table and fire ring. Firewood for gathering is abundant in the area. There is no water on site, but a potable pressurized water system is available at the Wapiti Campground about 1/2 miles west of the Big Game Campground.

This area is frequented by grizzly bears. All food, beverages, coolers and other attractants must be stored and unavailable. Bear boxes are located in the campground for storage. Campground hosts on site can provide more information. Garbage must be properly disposed of in dumpsters, not in campfires. The Wapiti Wayside is located less then 1/2 mile west of the campground with interpretive information on grizzly bears.

Directions: Big Game Campground is located between the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park and the town of Cody Wyoming, on the Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway (Hwy 14-16-20). The campground is located on the north side of the highway, next to the Shoshone River. This is a right turn if you are headed west and a left turn if headed east. The campground is between the Wapiti Campground and the Horse Creek Picnic Area.
